You can learn to identify the overall health of your trees by paying attention to some simple details
Bob is showing a maple stem with 3 years of growth.
Notice the ring shaped marks on the stem? This is Terminal Bud Scarring. It shows where a tree stopped growing in a season.
This maple stem is showing 2 years of growth. The reddish colored top half is the newest growth.
By looking at Terminal Bud Scarring, Arborists can give you solid information about the health of your tree, including good years of growth, and poor ones. And they can advise you to the best form or fertilization or pruning that may be needed.
